Security officials in east of the country reported that Taleban insurgents suffered heavy casualties in parts of Laghman province. A press release from Laghman governor’s office stated that 15 Taleban insurgents were either killed or injured in a clearing operation codenamed ‘Selab5’. The statement added that Pahlawan Baba, Qala Najaran, Sar Kateban, Qala Fatullah, Qala Jani, Noor Mohammad Khan Banda, and Mer Osman Banda areas were cleared of insurgents in central and Alingar district. The statement further stated that there were no casualties among Afghan security forces. Taleban militants have not commented on the statement yet.
