Local officials in Zabul reported that at least 20 local and national policemen were killed in clashes with Taleban insurgents in Shahjoy district. Bismillah Afghanmal, governor of Zabul, said that Taleban insurgents attacked police checkpoints on Kabul-Kandahar highway in which 20 local and national policemen were killed and several others injured. He asserted that reinforcements had been dispatched to the areas. Taleban militants confirmed the incident.
