Officials at Afghan Ministry of Defence (MoD) said a final selection of disabled Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers for participation in the paralympic-style Invictus Games 2017 in Canada are to be made. Only seven out of 40 shortlisted will be sent to compete in the games. Tariqshah Bahrami, acting defence minister, said, “I hope our soldiers will return with victory.” Meanwhile Gen. John Nicholson, commander Resolute Support (RS) in Afghanistan, said that the United States is committed to providing long-term support to Afghanistan. The Invictus Games are an international sports competition in which wounded, ill, injured military personnel and veterans take part.
