Teachers of about 219 schools in Khost have called off a strike and will resume lessons from today. Lal Shah, a teacher, said the government has sought two-months time to solve teachers’ problems. The strike was called off after receiving an assurance from the government. The government has promised to distribute plots of land to schoolteachers after completion of the legal process. Lal Shah warned teachers would resume their strike if the government does not honour its promises within the given timeframe. The teachers were on strike for three days over delays in the distribution of the promised plots.
