Afghan President Ashraf Ghani called the launch of South Asian Satellite a giant step for regional cooperation. The South Asia Satellite was launched on Friday by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The satellite is meant for providing communication and disaster support, connectivity among the countries of South Asia region. A press release from ARG (presidential palace) stated that President Ghani participated in the event yesterday evening via video conferencing and congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the successful launch of GSLV-F09. Congratulating Modi, Ghani termed the launch as an extremely important step to know nature and nature’s patterns. Meanwhile Indian media reported that all participating nations will have access to at least one transponder through which they can telecast their own programming.
