US Defense Secretary James Mattis arrived in Kabul today as US President Donald Trump’s administration looks to construct its strategy for the war-torn country, where resurgent Taleban militants continue to make gains. A government source speaking on condition of anonymity said that Mattis is expected to meet Afghan officials and US troops in Kabul. Mattis’s visit to Afghanistan follows meetings in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Israel, Qatar and Djibouti.
