President Ashraf Ghani approved resignations of Defence Minister Abdullah Habibi and Chief of Army Staff Qadam Shah Shahim today. ARG (presidential palace) confirmed the news but did not provide further information. News published yesterday stated that Defense Minister Abdullah Habibi has resigned but Dawlat Waziri, spokesman for Ministry of Defence (MoD) in a statement rejected Habibi’s resignation. After the attack on Shaheen 27th Military Corps, all Afghan citizens urged heads of the security organs to resign from their positions respectfully.
