Helmand Security Council adopted a decision to speed up the pace of air and ground operations against Taleban insurgents yesterday. A press release from Helmand governor’s office stated that the provincial Security Council meeting was chaired by Governor Hayatullah Hayat. The meeting reviewed the ongoing operations against the insurgents in which Afghan security forces have dealt a heavy blow to Taleban insurgents and cleared some areas of insurgents. Brigadier General Chaghansori, acting commander of 505 Zone in Helmand, said that 400 new sergeants from Mazar-e-Sharif, provincial capital of Balkh, will be deployed to Helmand in two days. Meanwhile Hayatullah Hayat instructed the security forces to accelerate military operations and protect civilians from Taleban oppression and destructive action.
