Zalmay Khalilzad, the former US ambassador to Afghanistan and Iraq, reacted toward Hamid Karzai yesterday’s remarks and said that such remarks will not serve Afghan interests. Khalilzad wrote on his twitter page that Karzai is a friend but this criticism goes too far and will not advance peace or serve Afghan interests. Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai criticised the US over the bombing of Achin district in Nangarhar yesterday and said that he will oust the US from the country. Karzai further stated that the attack was a violation of Afghanistan’s sovereignty and said that he no longer recognises the National Unity Government (NUG) as either his or the country’s representative. A presidential spokesman would not address Karzai’s harsh words directly but Ghani’s office put out a brief post on Twitter, clearly aimed at Karzai: “Every Afghans has the right to speak their mind. This is a country of free speech.” On Thursday night the US military dropped America’s most powerful non-nuclear bomb on an alleged Daesh cave and tunnel complex in Achin district of Nangarhar in which at least 92 Daesh militants were killed.
