Security officials in Kunar said that a new operation codenamed “Tofan 2” has been launched against Taleban insurgents in parts of Kunar province. Sheren Aqa Faqiri, spokesman for Selab 201 Corps, said that Afghan security forces have launched a joint military operation in parts of Saokai district to crackdown on armed anti-government groups this morning. Taleban militants have not commented on the statement so far.
