ARG (presidential palace) reported that Akram Ekhpelwak was appointed as secretariat chief of High Peace Council (HPC). Shah Hussain Murtazavi, acting spokesman for the President, said that Akram Ekhpelwak, political advisor for President Ghani, was appointed as secretariat chief of HPC following a presidential decree. Meanwhile Murtazavi rejected reports of budget shortage for HPC and reiterated that they have budget to conduct activities of HPC. He also rejected the reports that HPC is likely to be dissolved. This comes as yesterday media reported that HPC’s budget has run out and it is unable to pay salaries of its employees next month. Following the death of former HPC head Pir Sayed Ahmad Gilani in January, the peace body has been headless.
