Afghan Refugees’ Return from Pakistan to Resume Soon

Officials at the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said that the process of repatriating Afghan refugees from Pakistan will resume on Monday. Minister of Refugees and Repatriation Sayed Hussain Alimi Balkhi said that the only problem they face is financial woes. He added that the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) increased its financial aid from 200 USD to 400 USD for each returnee but this year they said that they will decrease the aid as they cannot afford it. According to the figures of Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation, 130,000 registered and some 50,000 unregistered Afghan refugees are living in Pakistan. This comes as more than 600,000 Afghan  refugees returned from Pakistan in 2016.
