Taleban Insurgents Join Peace Process in Nangarhar

A group of 18 Taleban insurgents joined the government reconciliation programme in Nangarhar. Officials in Nangarhar said that the group laid down their weapons and joined the peace process through efforts of National Directorate of Security (NDS) personnel. Ataullah Khogyani, spokesman for Nangarhar governor, said that the group was an important insurgency unit and was active in Achin, Haska Mina, Momand Dara, and Bati Kot districts of the province. He added that the group handed over all their weapons to Afghan security forces. Meanwhile the insurgents, who joined peace process, said that Pakistan ISI provided facilities and money for them to do destructive activities in Afghanistan. Taleban militants have not commented on the statement yet.
