Ministers of interior affairs, defence, and the head of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) secured vote of confidence from Wolesi Jirga (lower house of parliament) today. Wolesi Jirga had summoned the three in connection with a bloody attack on a military hospital in Kabul and the deteriorating security situation of the country. Defence Minister Abdullah Habibi secured 106 votes of confidence, Interior Minister Taj Mohammad Jahid 120 votes, and head of NDS secured 129 votes in their favour from Members of Parliament. Earlier some Members of Parliament claimed that the president has threatened to dissolve the Wolesi Jirga if officials dealing in security matters are summoned, but the Presidential Palace had denied the claim as baseless.
