Afghan President Ashraf Ghani will go to Mazar-e-Sharif, provincial capital of Balkh, today to inaugurate the new governor’s office building and to appoint Ata Mohammad Noor as the governor of the province. Monner Farhad, spokesman for Balkh governor, added that President Ghani will also inaugurate the Blue Mosque during his visit. He added that the president will ring the bell to officially begin the new school year. Meanwhile reporters from Mazar reported that security has been tightened in the city ahead of Ghani’s visit and the roads to the governor’s office has been blocked to traffic.
