Four Killed, 10 Injured in Armed Clash in Faryab

At least four people were killed and ten others including seven policemen were injured in an armed clash between gunmen affiliated with Jamiat-e Islami Party and the National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan party (Junbish-i- Milli Islami) in PD 1th of Maimana, provincial capital of Faryab.

Four Killed, 10 Injured in Armed Clash in Faryab

At least four people were killed and ten others including seven policemen were injured in an armed clash between gunmen affiliated with Jamiat-e Islami Party and the National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan party (Junbish-i- Milli Islami) in PD 1th of Maimana, provincial capital of Faryab. Abdul Karim Yorish, spokesman for Faryab police, said that the incident involved gunmen of Nizamuddin Qaisari, prominent commander of National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan party, and Ajmal, a commander of Jamiat-e Islami party yesterday evening. He added that a son of Nizamuddin and three others from both sides were also killed in the clash.  Yorish further stated that the clash has ended now through mediation of tribal elders and the situation is under control of the security forces. Meanwhile chief of Faryab police said that a delegation from the capital will come today to further probe the incident impartially. He added that so far the motive behind the incident is not known. Junbish party is led by First Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostum and for Jamiat party, Ata Mohammad Noor, the governor of Balkh province is a powerful figure.
