President Ashraf Ghani opposed the new plan of the Ministry of Education (MoE) for changing girls’ school uniform across the country. MoE proposed blue uniform for primary students, grey for secondary students and dark blue colour for high school students. Shah Hussain Murtazavi, deputy spokesman for the president, said that President Ghani has said that the proposed uniform is contrary to the culture and tradition of Afghan people. Murtazavi added that President Ghani said that no plan can be implemented regardless of considering economic status of the families. The president has instructed MoE to work on a new plan in consultation with teachers and families of the students and choose a uniform in accordance with our national culture and economy.
