Amrullah Saleh, former head of National Directorate of Security (NDS) was appointed as state minister for security reforms and head of the high office of the oversight for appointing of top security and defense officials. Amrullah Saleh’s duties include advice to president on appointment of new security officers, monitoring and implementation of professional growth plan for high security officers, and advice on bringing reforms in main security organs. A presidential decree also stated that defense and interior affairs ministries must fully cooperate with Saleh in security reforms. Amrullah Saleh resigned from his position as head of NDS in 2010 following an attack on a gathering in Kabul and formed a movement by the name of Green Trend (Rawand Sabz).
