Afghan Ministry of Interior Affairs (MoI) announced new appointments for chiefs of police for a number of provinces including Kabul, Nangarhar, Baghlan, Paktika, and Nuristan on Friday. A press release from the MoI stated that the new appointments were made based on Interior Minister’s decision and an approval of President Ashraf Ghani. The statement added that Hasan Shah Frogh was appointed as Kabul police chief, Abdul Rahman Rahimi, former Kabul police chief, as Nangarhar police chief, Mohammad Salem Almas as head of criminal investigation at Kabul police, Gul Aqa Rohani as commander of Hamid Karzai International Airport, Toryalai Abdiani chief of Paktia police, Ekramuddin Sari chief of Baghlan police, and Ghulam Muhayuddin as chief of Nuristan police. The statement further stated that Mohammad Hamidi was appointed as head of anti-corruption of the MoI. The news appointments and reshuffle comes as deadly suicide attacks killed and injured dozens of people in Kabul city on Wednesday.
