Taleban coordinated attack on Waghaz district of Ghazni province was repulsed by security forces. Fahim Amarkhail, spokesman for Ghani police, said that Taleban converged on police checkpoints in the provincial capital and parts of Waghaz district, and was met with fierce resistance by Afghan security forces. Amarkhail added that one Afghan police was killed and other injured in the clash. The spokesman asserted that Taleban suffered heavy casualties and added that six Taleban militants were killed and four others injured. He reiterated that Taleban militants wanted to crash the district but was met with harsh response from Afghan security forces. Meanwhile Zabiullah Mujahid, a so-called Taleban spokesman, claimed that three Afghan police were killed and two others injured in the attack, a claim which has been rejected by Ghani police.
