Officials in Helmand’s refugees and repatriations department said some 11,000 families have been uprooted in the province due to insecurity and recent fighting. Naqibullah Zamaryal, provincial director of refugees and repatriations department, said that they have delivered assistance to 6,500 families in the province. According to the department’s figures, many people have been displaced from Babaje, Marja, Nawa, Garmser, and the provincial capital, Lashkargah. Efforts are underway to deliver food items to the families. Zamaryal added that the survey process has begun and assistance will be delivered soon after the survey is finished. According to figures by Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations, more than one million people have been displaced across the country due to security threats, fierce fighting and natural disasters.
