Afghan President Ashraf Ghani met Qatar Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference yesterday. A press release from Presidential Palace (ARG) stated that the president said the political office in Qatar should be closed unless Taleban join the Afghan-led peace process by summer. The statement added that both sides discussed bilateral relations and means of enhancing issues of common interests during the meeting. President Ghani has told Qatar foreign minister more sanctions and pressures would be put on Taleban if they do not come to the table of negotiation. The political office was opened in 2014 in Doha, Qatar, to revive peace talks with Afghan government.
