Officials in the maintenance department of Salang said the pass will be closed to the public due to heavy snowfall and huge storms. Gen. Mohammad Rajab, head of maintenance department of Salang, told Killid this morning that heavy snowfall and severe storms are ongoing in Salang Pass and thus buses, freight and trucks are stopped on both sides of the tunnel. He added that the Salang Pass will remain closed until the situation gets better. Salang Highway connects the northern provinces of Afghanistan with the capital Kabul.
