A young girl and a boy who eloped to escape for marriage in Wama district of Nuristan were publically shot dead by their families and people. According to the reports, they were being shot after they had surrendered themselves to police. Azizullah Ghayor, secretary of provincial council of Nuristan, told Killid that the couple had eloped to escape for marriage but were shot dead by scores of people who stormed the government shelter where they were being held. Ghayor added that the issue was discussed with government officials to arrest the perpetrators but nothing has been done in this regard. Ghayor further stated that the area where the couple was killed is far from the provincial capital and tribal elders decide over such issues.
