The White House said that President Donald Trump and Saudi King Salman Bin Abdul al-Aziz Al Saud have agreed to back safe zones in Syria and Yemen in a telephone call on Sunday. The White House announced that the two spoke by telephone Sunday, reaffirming the longstanding relationship between the United States and Saudi Arabia. The White House said in a statement, “The President requested and the King agreed to support safe zones in Syria and Yemen, as well as supporting other ideas to help the many refugees who are displaced by the ongoing conflicts.” The statement added, “They also agreed on the importance of rigorously enforcing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action with Iran and of addressing Iran’s destabilising regional activities.”
