Afghan Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said that with registering a new polio incident in Barmal district of Paktika, the total polio incidents in 2016 reached to 13 cases. A press release from Ministry of Public Health stated that a two-year old child named Bismillah was suffering from polio in Barmal district in December last year. The investigative team of the MoPH announced the incident a positive case of polio in the district. The statement added that in 2016, 13 polio cases had been recorded across the country that includes 7 cases in Barmal district, Paktika. Ministry of Public Health stressed that polio vaccination will be conducted throughout the country to eliminate polio and to further prevent children’s paralysis.
