Afghan government reacted strongly in response to last week’s remarks of Abdul Hakim Mujahid, an advisor to High Peace Council, who called the Taleban insurgents ‘angel of peace’ . The Office of the President said that the government will take drastic action for investigation of the issue and the results will be shared with the nation. A press release from Presidential Palace (ARG) stated that Afghan government is committed to freedom of expression, but will not tolerate misusage of the term to call ‘Angel of peace’ to those who are butchering innocent women and children. The statement added that all dignities should be respected and any disdain or affront to national personalities will never be tolerable. This comes as Abdul Hakim Mujahid in his last week’s remarks called Taleban ‘angel of peace’. He also called the former Afghan president Dr. Najibullah ‘a traitor’ and then-president Burhanuddin Rabbani ‘core factor of civil war in the country’.
